We've Seen Beautiful Things

Dear Friends,

Friends,

It has been a difficult week. We are so grateful to the many of you who have reached out with encouraging words, prayers, support and questions about how you can continue to help our mission to love people from all places.

It has been one year since Mission Adelante begun resettling refugees. Our staff team, volunteer Good Neighbor teams, and many others have poured out love and sweat to provide for the practical and relational needs of new American neighbors.  We are so thankful and so proud!

As you know, we are now winding down our initial resettlement services, as the government funding for this program has been suspended.

Kristen Maxwell, our Associate Director, and I had a conversation about the beautiful things we’ve seen God do over this past year that I invite you to watch.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to welcome immigrants and refugees into our community and will do so with the ongoing love, support and prayers of the local church and the many people who serve with us.

We believe the words of 2 Corinthians 12:19 “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”

We anticipate God showing us more beautiful things in coming months even in the difficult, painful things we will face.  We’ve begun the Love Mercy Initiative to raise $70,000 to provide basic services for newly arrived refugee families through April of 2025.  These funds will also provide for compensation and severance for staff members on our refugee services team. Any funds raised for the Love Mercy Initiative that go beyond $70,000 will be used to provide for critical needs of immigrants and refugees in our community.

We are grateful for your support, solidarity and prayers. Each of you are an important part of the ways Jesus shows his strength in weakness as we move forward together to love people from all places.
