Goodbye Kansas! 🌾
by Phul Maya Rasaily, Kids Ministry Manager, Ministry Apprentice
I am more than grateful to Mission Adelante for giving me an opportunity to grow as a leader in these two years of the apprenticeship program. I have learned so much about ministry and how to lead. But now, it is time for me to start a new chapter in Ohio with my family. I am moving to Ohio with my family, but I am taking so many blessings with me.
The first blessing is that I have become more confident in myself to lead. Secondly, I have gained lifelong friendships. Thirdly, I was able to pass the baton to Ashley to continue leading the Arts Community after I leave. I feel like I have spent most of my childhood here and now it's crazy to know that I’m on the staff. I never thought that I would be working at the same place where I used to come as a participant. Now I’m very excited to be involved and help the community to make a difference through Mission Adelante.
I’m also happy that I got this opportunity because I'm learning a lot from Megan Fountain, who I have always looked up to since I was little. She’s an amazing leader, and I love working with her and learning from her.
I have been part of Mission Adelante as a ministry apprentice and Arts Community leader since 2019. I have learned everything about ministry here under the amazing supervision of Gissell Vazquez and Yanelis Lopez. They taught me how to create programs and how to disciple with love and dignity. Because of their hard-work with me, I was able to lead in Arts Community, my discipleship group, and in many other areas. I have learned so much about ministry and I was able to make such a strong friendship among everyone at mission adelante. Every staff member has impacted me to be a better version of myself and I am always thankful for that. I am grateful to have been a part of a community that works together. I am so grateful for the chance to see all the Arts Community volunteers who are impacting students' lives and vice versa.
After being supervised by Gissell and Yanelis, I was also able to supervise Ashley for six months and let her lead the Arts Community. Ashley Delgado has taken over Arts Community and has done a great job in leading the program. Her growing leadership skills have positioned her in a great place to continue developing the Arts Program. I want to thank the Mission Adelante staff, all volunteers and program participants for accepting me as a team and helping me flourish.
I will greatly miss Kansas City and Mission Adelante but I am also looking forward to more amazing things God has stored for me in Ohio!
