Adult Ministries
People from all places live and work in our neighborhood. Mission Adelante’s adult ministries are striving to building community and serve in practical ways. We love to walk with people as they learn English, navigate the systems in our country, and prepare to become United States citizens. What a joy to serve, share life, and share Jesus with people from all places!
Latino ESL Classes
Our adult English program for Spanish speakers has multiple levels, is highly relational, and emphasizes verbal practice. As a volunteer conversation partner, you learn a lot and make a huge impact just by speaking English and building a friendship. There is no specific expertise or preparation required. And, you don't need to speak another language! Volunteers serve weekly on Thursday nights over a 12-week trimester.
Citizenship class
Our Citizenship classes help prepare eligible individuals for the USCIS citizenship interview and exam. Volunteers work with students over the course of a 12 week trimester, building a relationship and helping students master the content required for the exam. And important part of our citizenship program also includes gaining the English proficiency needed to successfully complete the interview and exam.
Beginner Class- Intermediate class: Emphasis on teaching English while teaching what is needed for the test and interview.
Advanced Class: Emphasis on practicing English while teaching what is needed for the test and interview.
resettlement services
We are excited to start welcoming our first families in January of 2024.
Be part of our “Good Neighbor Teams” (GNTs) are small groups of people from a church or friend group who have said yes to walking alongside a newly arriving immigrant family for 6-12 months, providing tangible care, friendship and community connection.
After onboarding and training, GNTs are equipped to step in and help with important tasks like conducting airport pick-ups, cultural orientation, arranging housing, supporting access to medical and social services and assisting newcomers as they seek employment.
