Refugee Resettlement
Today over 110 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes, and that number grows by the day. We are excited to partner as an affiliate of World Relief to offer a warm welcome to refugee families arriving in KCK.
Reception and Placement
When Refugees first arrive in the United States, they are a part of the Reception and Placement (R&P) program at a receiving refugee resettlement agency. Mission Adelante is partnering with World Relief and the US Department of State to offer R&P services and welcome new refugee families to KCK. Part of that welcome includes securing and setting up housing, welcoming families as they arrive at the airport, helping families secure all needed resources, and working with families to secure employment within their first 90 days in the US.
Ongoing Refugee Services
Mission Adelante is proud to partner with the Kansas Office for Refugees (KSOR) to offer continuous support and services to eligible refugees. Our ongoing refugee services include:

Navigating the complexities of resettlement can be daunting. Our dedicated team provides comprehensive adjustment and referral services to help refugees adapt to their new environment. From accessing healthcare and housing to understanding legal rights and cultural norms, we offer guidance and support every step of the way.Additional Support:
In addition to our core services, Mission Adelante remains committed to meeting the evolving needs of the refugee community. We continually assess and respond to unique challenges and opportunities, providing supplementary support and resources as required.
Good Neighbor Teams
Good Neighbor Teams (GNTs) are small groups of people from a church or friend group who have said yes to walking alongside a newly arriving refugee family for 6-12 months, providing tangible care, friendship, and community connection.
GNTs are equipped to step in and help with important tasks like conducting airport pick-ups, cultural orientation, arranging housing, supporting access to medical and social services, and assisting newcomers as they seek employment.

Additional Ways to Support Refugee Services at Mission Adelante
There are many opportunities to join in the work the Lord is doing through the Refugee Services Program at Mission Adelante.
Pray: We believe that prayer is a significant part of the work that we will be doing. Pray for the families that will be coming, pray for the volunteers that will serve, and pray for the resources that will be needed.
Share: Help us to spread the word of the work the Lord is doing. Do you have a church or small group that we could come share with? Could you share our posts on Social Media? Could you tell a friend? Help us share about refugee resettlement in Kansas City.
Connect: Welcoming refugees requires a lot of resources, financial, material, and human connections. We are looking for connections in the areas of rental housing, apartment furnishings, and employers who may be interested in hiring clients. If you or someone you know would be able to help in these areas, we would love to hear from you.
Serve: Good Neighbor Teams listed above is one of the many ways to serve our new neighbors. We also need individuals and groups to help in other ways, including resource drives, apartment setup, and ESL volunteers. Also, if you are interested in participating in a Good Neighbor Team, but don’t have a full team to serve with, we will try to connect you with others in a similar situation to form a full GNT.
